We have now decided on the date when we will have our "Wedding Party" this time on European ground.

It will take place the 14th of July 2007 in the little German village of Seelenfeld. It is about 40 Minutes from Hannover, 2 hours from Hamburg or 3 1/2 hours from Berlin. This is where I grew up and where my parents live. The party will be in the lovely garden of my parents, where we will have a pavillion right next to the pool. There will be cool disco music, food and lots of beer, "Schnaps" and Cocktails. You should bring your swimming costume, from experience (earlier parties) we know that at some point of the party you will end up in the pool.

Everybody is invited, those who came to our Wedding in Mexico and those who couldn’t make it then. We hope to see you in Seelenfeld, Germany to celebrate all together.

Yes, that’s what it seems. We got stuck in La Ceiba. The plan was to travel through this Caribbean port town but unfortunately we got some problems whilst trying to take out money from an ATM. The machine swallowed my credit card and that on a Sunday. We tried to call the emergency number that we found next to the ATM and spoke with some bank employee who in the end couldn’t help us at all since it was Sunday and nobody was working. So we decided to stay until Monday and to go to the bank (Credomatic) in the morning. We were there at 8.00 a.m., they let us wait about an hour before they would call some people to check the ATM. The people couldn’t be reached because they were out of the office attending some other money machines out of town. The only thing they told us was that the ATM, where my credit card was inside, would be checked the same day. So we tried to stay calm and got back at 3.00 p.m. to see if there had been any news. Fortunately, for us and them, they had good news. We got my credit card back and were able to fill our pockets with money. Tomorrow, at last, we will be off for the Bay Islands.

So, jetzt haben wir schon 6 ganze Tage in Tela verbracht und man sollte meinen, dass es unser Lieblingsort der bisherigen Reise sei. Ganz so ist es nun nicht, obwohl der Ort nicht zu verübeln ist, wenn die Sonne scheint. Wir sind im strömenden Regen angekommen und haben nach 3 Tagen Regen, endlich die ersten Sonnenstahlen gesehen. Das Hauptziel dieses Aufenthaltsortes war und ist nämlich "fast" ganz Körper braun zu werden. Bisher haben wir alle drei die typische Backpackerbräune, Unterschenkel, Arme und Kopf gebräunt. Das Fast-Ganzkörperbräunen ist eigentlich mehr Annas Ziel, da sie morgen wieder Richtung Heimat fliegt, also Schweden. Und da will man ja schön gebräunt sein. Obwohl fraglich ist wie man die Fast-Ganzkörperbräune eigentlich zur Schau stellen kann, wenn man in Schweden bei Schnee und Minusgraden im dicken Wintermantel rumläuft. Naja, einer wird die Fast-Ganzkörperbräune auf jeden Fall bewundern können und das ist Annas Feuerwehrmann. Wie dem auch sei, seit gestern geniessen wir wieder strahlenden Sonnenschein und um die 30 Grad. Wir haben auch einen Kajakausflug auf dem Fluss Río Plátano, der im Naturschutzgebiet Punta Izopo liegt, gemacht, wo wir Krokodile, Schildkröten und etliche Vogelsorten gesehen haben. Anna hatte übrigens den bestgebautesten Honduraner als Kajakpartner. Da waren wir uns alle drei einig. (Siehe Fotos)

Wir werden hier noch ein oder zwei weitere Tagen bleiben und dann Richtung Roatán reisen. Das ist eine Insel, die zu der Bay Islands Gruppe gehört und mitten im Karibischen Meer liegt. Dort werden wir versuchen einen Tauchschein zu machen. Schauen wir mal, ob was draus wird. Angeblich sind dort auf den Inseln, die Internetverbindungen etwas schlechter und zudem teurer, deswegen werde ich mich wohl erst wieder in einer Woche oder so melden.

Yet another Maya ruin, you might think, and you are right, but Copán in Honduras is definitely worth a visit. It is much smaller than Tikal in Guatemala, but it has wonderfully beautiful details. There we also saw lots of guaras rojas (scarlet macaws), Honduras national bird. It is a parrot by the way.

Hola amigos,

Sandy me preguntó por los lugares que más nos han gustado y alguna experiencia o situación especial que nos ha pasado durante el viaje. Por tales razones les mando un resumen de nuestros lugares favoritos de Guatemala por si acaso algún día van por estos rumbos y quieren visitarlos.

No pueden perderse a ver TIKAL, la más grande de las antiguas ciudades de los mayas. No tiene tantos detalles como Chichen Itza o las ruinas de la ruta Puc cerca de Mérida pero es gigantesco y tiene algo mágico. Les recomiendo irse temprano. Luego nos gustaron mucho los alrededores de QUETZALTENANGO, los locales le dicen Xela a la ciudad. Allí viven los Quiché, el pueblo Maya más grande de Guatemala. Tienen su propio idioma y por allá lo escuchas más que el español. Las mujeres y algunos pocos hombres traen ropa tradicional y tanto la forma como los colores cambian de un pueblito al otro. Visitamos varias iglesias, mercados, las Fuentes Georginas, que son termales naturales de sulfuro y San Simón, un “santo” o dios de los mayas. Haber visto San Simón probablemente ha sido la experiencia más impresionante de Guatemala. Existe un reporte sobre San Simón en esta página web si quieren saber más sobre él. Es en inglés. Luego nos gustó el mercado de CHICHICASTENANGO, que se celebra cada jueves y domingo. Les recomiendo irse el día antes del mercado para que puedan aprovechar y ver el mercado ya desde temprano. Lago de Atitlán es un lugar para relajarse. Está rodeado por montañas coloradas y contiene agua lucida. Antigua, la anterior capital de Guatemala, es bastante llena de turistas pero tiene una cuidad bonita con muchos edificios coloniales. De sus muchos terremotos que ha sufrido, se ven muchas iglesias en ruinas que dan un ambiente especial a este lugar.

Ya hemos dejado atrás a Guatemala y por el momento nos encontramos en Tela en la costa caribe de Honduras. Hemos tenido dos días de lluvias fuertes pero al parecer va a mejorar mañana.
