ChiChi, as all locals call it, is a tiny place in the Quiché department, beautifully surrounded by valleys and mountains, somehow isolated from the rest of Guatemala. It is famous for its very busy and fabulous local market, which we visited yesterday. Since we stayed the night before the market day in ChiCh, we were able to be at the marketplace quite early (7.30 a.m.) in order to mind the biggest crowds. Once there, it didn’t take too long and we had already bought two huge, colorful, handcrafted covers which we will carry with us on top of our backpacks to Honduras (very smart, but we couldn’t resist). We did not buy any more handicrafts, but we definitely could have bought much more. If you go there some day, take with you a big bag and somebody to carry it.

Bye for now!

Sabrina
